Comprehensive Care For Total Well-Being

A healthy mouth begins with you. Understanding exactly how your mouth works and its current state, as well as developing a comprehensive plan to keep your smile strong and beautiful is our main goal. We focus on total oral health, by using technology and expertise to effectively diagnose conditions before they become a larger issue.

Comprehensive Exams

Our exams focus on your total oral health, and ensure that every part of your mouth is functioning properly. From oral cancer screenings to periodontal management, our exams are the first step to a healthy smile. We’ll examine both hard and soft tissue, check your jaw, and take x-rays.

Hygiene

Great oral health relies on a quality hygiene routine. We have specialized technology that removes plaque and tartar buildup to make your smile shine. Regular hygiene visits are an integral part of keeping your mouth – and by extension – your whole body healthy. Did you know many of life-threatening diseases have oral symptoms? So think of us as your first line of defense in maintaining your whole body health.

Oral Cancer Screenings

Early diagnosis of oral cancer is the key to effective treatment. Even if you aren’t prone to risk factors such as alcohol or tobacco use, or if you have no symptoms, you can still develop oral cancer. Dr. Shefrin manually checks your oral cavity for any signs of abnormal tissue.

Gum Disease and Therapy

According to the Oral Health Division of the Centers for Disease Control, almost half of all adults over the age of 30 are dealing with some kind of gum disease. So we are all about your gum health. Maintaining your gum health is as important as brushing and flossing. Periodontal disease is the main reason adults lose their teeth, so focusing on removing buildup along the gum line is critical. Our periodontal management approach to treatment keeps your mouth at its best.

Fluoride Treatments

Applying fluoride to your teeth topically helps restore lost minerals to your enamel, and can eliminate painful sensitivity. If you experience pain when drinking or eating items at varying temperatures, ask us how a fluoride treatment can help.

Mouthguards

Bruxism (clenching your jaw or grinding your teeth) sufferers know the damage nighttime grinding can do. Dr. Shefrin can fit you for a custom nightguard to help alleviate the pain and excess wear to your teeth. We may offer splint therapy as a treatment for bruxism as well.

Anesthesia

Nervous about your visit? We have nitrous oxide available upon request.  We use nitrous oxide, an inhaled gas, to help anxious patients relax during procedures. You’ll be able to interact with our team during your treatment, and the effects of nitrous oxide diminish quickly after the gas is turned off, so you won’t feel groggy or worn out after your treatment.

Emergency Care

We respect our patients, and always want to be available for you. When an emergency occurs, we’re prepared. We have same day appointments during office hours to handle emergency cases. When you’re in pain, you shouldn’t have to wait, and we make sure you don’t.

Technology

Our computerized treatment rooms allow us to properly discuss your diagnosis and procedure plan. We use intraoral cameras to give you the professional view. You see what the dentist sees. We believe you need the right information to make the right choices, which is why we’ve integrated a state-of-the-art patient education system into our practice. You can interact with the video clips to learn more about bruxism and occlusion.

Your oral health goes beyond what we can see with the naked eye. Our digital x-rays display high resolution images of your teeth and jaw, accurately portraying what’s really going on under the gum line.
